The Erasmus Experience of Our Students

In an increasingly globalized world, opportunities for students to broaden their horizons—not just academically, but also culturally and personally—are essential. The Erasmus+ program offers a gateway to these transformative experiences, allowing students at Centro San Luis to complete internships in companies across Europe, exploring new frontiers and challenging their own limits.

Exploring New Frontiers: Transformative Experiences in Erasmus+

Erasmus+: More Than Just an Academic Experience

Over the last 15 years, students at Centro San Luis who have participated in the Erasmus+ program have returned not only with new professional skills but also with life-changing experiences. International mobility has become a springboard that pushes them out of their comfort zones, allowing them to face unexpected challenges and discover different cultures, ways of life, and work environments. Most importantly, it has given them a much broader and more enriching worldview.

"Doing my internship at a company in Italy was, without a doubt, one of the best decisions of my life. I not only learned how a European company in my field operates but also met wonderful people, improved my Italian skills, and discovered a new culture," says Ane, a student who participated in the program last year. "I came back with the certainty that I can work anywhere in the world."

Cultural Adaptation: A Challenge and an Opportunity

One of the most exciting aspects of the Erasmus+ experience is the cultural adaptation process. For many students, this is the first big challenge. Arriving in a new country, with a different language and culture, can be overwhelming at first. However, it is through this adaptation that many students experience their greatest personal growth.

"At first, the culture shock was significant," confesses Iker, who did his internship in Poland. "But gradually, I started to understand the customs, and that helped me integrate into the team. Now, I not only feel more confident in myself, but I also know that I am capable of facing unknown situations and succeeding. This experience prepared me for the working world in ways I never imagined."

Overcoming Challenges and Learning Through Them

Participating in Erasmus+ is not just about traveling and learning about other cultures. For many students, it means facing unforeseen challenges—from language barriers to moments of homesickness. Nevertheless, these challenges turn into valuable lessons that prepare them not only for their professional careers but for life itself.

"I never thought we would be so warmly welcomed at the company. In my case, the first days were difficult because I didn’t fully master the language, but my colleagues were very patient and helped me improve. It was a continuous learning process, not only professionally but also personally," comments Maitane, who did her internship in Portugal. "This experience has taught me to be more resilient, to adapt to whatever comes my way, and to not fear change."

Long-Term Benefits: Beyond Professional Practice

The stories of students who have participated in Erasmus+ stand out not only for their professional skill development but also for the profound personal impact they experience. Living in another country, getting to know new cultures, and working in different environments fosters independence, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking.

Many former students from Centro San Luis who took part in the program confirm that this experience was key in shaping their professional careers. Additionally, international mobility has opened doors for them in the European job market, significantly improving their employment prospects.

"After my Erasmus+ experience, I feel more confident when facing job interviews. In my resume, I can highlight not only my technical skills but also my ability to adapt to new situations, work in teams, and overcome obstacles in international environments," explains Unai, who completed his internship in Ireland.
